Mervin G. Hillier DBA (Can), MBA, MSc HRM, CPA, C.Dir, CMC, DipTh

Merv is the Managing Director for Canadian based, NUVISION (nuvision.ca). He works with growth oriented and innovative driven organizations on those factors that are critical to designing, building and sustaining high performance organizations.

Merv was the former Canadian President of a diversified company in manufacturing and distribution servicing the automotive, high tech and consumer industries.  As President, Merv led his company to being consistently recognized yearly as one of the “50 Best Managed Companies in Canada”.

Merv Hillier was the former President and CEO of CMA, now part of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (a merger between CMA-CGA and CA). Under Merv’s leadership, CMA Ontario was recognized by CSCS as a leader among the top for profit and not-profit companies in Canada for corporate governance, strategic oversight and value creation. 

Merv was the former President &CEO of Achev, a NFP/Charity focused on integration of new comers to Canada, employment opportunities and language assessment and development.

Merv was the founding Chair of the Board for the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC), the appointed federal regulatory body for practicing immigration consultants.  He subsequently sat as a Public Interest Director with the ICCRC and was the Vice Chair of the Finance & Audit Committee. Merv was also a member of the Board of Directors for the Human Resources Professional Association, a member of the Dean's Advisory Committee for the Business School at Laurier University and on the advisory board of University of Toronto's Professional Accountings Council.

Merv teaches Governance & Financial Accountability in the MFAc program at York University. Merv also lectured for Directors College (part of McMaster University) in Risk Management and Strategy. He is a regular speaker for The Executive Committee, the world’s largest CEO forum group organization. For several years, Merv was also a sessional teacher for the residency program of the University of Guelph College of Business and Economics’ Masters in Business Administration program.

Merv is a Fellow of CPA Canada (FCPA), a distinction which recognizes community involvement, professional success and contributions to the accounting/finance/business profession.

Merv holds the degrees of Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and Masters of Science in Human Resources Management (MSc HRM), from Edinburgh Business School. He also holds Master’s Certificates in Strategic Agility, in Strategic Planning, and in Risk Management and Business Performance from the Schulich School of Business. Merv is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and he also holds the Chartered Director (C.Dir.) designation. He is also a Certified Human Resources Compensation Committee professional, granted by Directors’ College (McMaster University.) His undergraduate studies were in religion and behavior (DipTh) from Masters College. He is currently focused on completing a Doctorate of Business Administration with Edinburgh University.
